I have had many goals with weight loss and nothing seemed to work. This year I wanted a change. I wanted to get healthy, see weight loss and be fit. I started to work out and lost a few pounds but my results on my own were not to my liking. So one day, I saw a poster about a personal trainer at my local gym. Melissa's poster inspired me to get that extra push that I was looking for. At our first meeting she took the time to help me get on a healthy meal plan, ask me what my goals were, but most of all she made me believe that I can achieve them. I enjoyed her talent so much that not only I signed up once but twice. She has educated and shown me several varieties of different techniques. I see results and I'm loving the new me. I am stronger and most of all my confidence in myself has grown. I'm grateful to have her as my personal trainer.

I'm 35 years old and have been overweight most of my adult life. I had lost 30 or more pounds on a couple different occasions, but always gained it back...and then some. I never included exercise in my quests for weight loss. I wanted something quick so, as many people struggling to lose weight do, I ate very little. I saw lower numbers on the scale but would eventually give up because I felt so deprived and hungry. So I would over eat, gain back the weight plus a few more.

So, towards the end of January of this year I had the idea of finding a personal trainer. Like I said before, I'd never included exercise before and it was because I had no idea what I was doing. Through an Internet search I found Melissa Fillmore. I contacted her via email and after corresponding for a day or two we had an appointment set. I was very nervous but when I met her she immediately made me feel at ease.

We started with some measurements, weight, and body fat percentages. She sat down with me and taught me so much about nutrition...when to eat, what kind of foods, ways to cut fat out. Most importantly she enforced the importance of actually eating and the way my body needs the calories and protein to make the most out of my workouts. She instructed me to do 4 days of cardio and gave me specifics about what my heart rate should be to burn fat and not muscle. In addition, I would do strength training with her 3 days a week.

I was faithful in sticking to healthy food choices, my cardio and the training. After exactly four weeks, it was time for those dreaded measurements....I had lost 15 pounds, 14.5 inches, and 6.5% body fat. I was floored! That was about 2 and a half weeks ago. Although I have stopped working with Melissa I have continued on my own with strength training. I'm able to do this because she has taught me so much about equipment, different exercises, technique, and how to get the most for my workout. I've learned to walk into the gym with confidence.

Melissa has been so supportive just a text away ready to give me encouragement or answer a question and has become my friend. She has a real passion for what she does. How in the world she does it, I have no idea. She is a dedicated wife, mother of 5, trainer, and competing body-builder. Thank you, Melissa for being a huge part of helping me change my life. I can see my body changing not only in size, but also in strength and endurance. You are a rock star!!
